Project management is not the most favorite kind of activity when working in a Microsoft Dynamics NAV implementation or any other kind of project for that matter. Most people just want to get work done, project related activities to meet deadlines, and making sure the deliverables are according the requirements. But especially when projects are covering longer time spans, have more people involved and the deliverables are getting more complex, the importance of communication increases.

Most of us know that you can use the CHANGECOMPANY function in NAV to change the target company for a query in NAV to allow us to perform C.R.U.D. operations against a table in another NAV Company. While that can be pretty handy for reading data, it has several difficiencies when we want to perform an INSERT, MODIFY or DELETE. The biggest difference is that any Triggers that get triggered actually get run against the Company where the code is being executed from and not against the target company. With the advent of the NAV Web Services we have a new alternative.

Companies focus a lot of attention the outside threat from hackers trying to access servers and computers seeking to reak havoc and steal data. What companies don't spend enough time thinking about is that the risk from within can be more critical. Open access to company critical software can lead to serious loss of reputation, revenue, and productivity. Need to make some changes to reduce the risk of comprimsing critical company information like financials and customer lists, focus on the internal threat. What's the best way to do that in Navision? Easy Security!

When Microsoft added a Web Services interface to Dynamics NAV with the 2009 release, it took a huge step forward in allowing other applications to be integrated with NAV. Additional improvements have been added with the SP1 and R2 releases. But the question that continues to come up with end users is "What can I do with the NAV Web Services or more specifically, what can they do for me?". I am going to give you my top 10 list but please understand that this just scratches the surface of the capabilities allowed by the NAV Web Services.

The item charges will be added to the direct unit cost of the item purchased or sold, thus will affect the cost of goods sold and profit calculation.

To setup change log you will need to be knowledgeable of the Object Designer and the Tables and Fields within those tables that you wish to track. It is suggested that you use the Change Log especially for Setup tables where data integrity is key since a change in some of these tables can affect how the system works.
